System Changes: Starting September 2nd, 2024, the MSM IRB will be switching to the Cayuse Human Ethics system for all new IRB submissions. Submissions approved prior to September 2nd will remain in the IRBNet system until the final transition plan has been implemented. If you submit a new study in IRBNet on or after September 2nd, you will be directed to resubmit in the Cayuse system.

New Guidance & Policies
March 1, 2024- Draft Guidance on Key Information and Facilitating Understanding in Informed Consent
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have announced draft guidance, 鈥淜ey Information and Facilitating Understanding in Informed Consent.鈥� Notice of this draft guidance is included in the March 1, 2024 issue of the Federal Register (89 FR 15094) and can be accessed .
The guidance addresses the provisions of the revised Common Rule that require informed consent to begin with key information about the research and to present information in a way that facilitates understanding and identical provisions in FDA鈥檚 proposed rule.
